The Somnium Telescope captured the origins of the universe. Humanity rejoiced, its most fundamental questions - who are we How did we get here? - finally put to rest. Somnium takes place moments before this most profound discovery. It also takes place a hundred and twenty years ago. But it also takes place eighty-seven years ago - and six months ago too.Along this vast continuum, an Arkansan farmhand, a team of foul-mouthed aerospace engineers, a cultish contingent of amateur Soviet artists, and an astronaut on board the ISS wittingly (or not) usher this superhuman instrument into orbit. All the while, their competing notions of God and creation are pushed to their limit, leaving some to wonder - even if we could understand the workings of our universe, would we really want to know?
